A Brief History
The Braintrust of Captain Canuck!
Richard Comely and Ron Leishman, the two men responsible for bringing us Captain Canuck.
In 1972 Comely and Leishman were discussing the idea of a Canadian comic book complete with a Canadian super hero.  After brainstorming, Captain Canuck was born.
Being the two men were very moral and religious, Captain Canuck, too, was a hero of high morals with a belief in God.
The morality of Captain Canuck I find very refreshing in light of the majority of comic books today.
Captain Canuck was published between 1975 and 1981 during its first run.  Captain Canuck was written with a heavy flavor of science-fiction.
In it's second run, in 1993, it had a more espionage feel to it.  One courageous man against a world conspiracy.
In it's third incarnation, we had a younger man of character fighting organized crime with cool, but realistic gadgets and hand to hand combat.
In any of the three series, the Captain was a man of high moral standing.
Ron Leishman later became a teacher.
Richard Comely has been active in lectures, art seminars, and comic book conventions.
